This past weekend, we got to experience some sensory fun at the City of Roseville's Bunnies and Baskets event for kids with autism or developmental disabilities. We're so grateful to live in a place that offers inclusive events for our kiddos with special needs. Huge shoutout to the City of Roseville Parks and Rec department!
JJ had a blast coloring, painting, squishing playdough, taking a deep dive into the spring themed sensory bin, and more! Let's not forget the zoomies! There was a good chunk of happy, energetic running around too.
One thing I love most about these sensory-friendly events? The understanding. At one point, JJ totally ran into another parent. But guess what? The response was pure sunshine. "No worries at all, that's why we're here!" So sweet.
Sometimes getting the fam all ready to head out can be a little hectic, but this event was so worth it! Here are some resources to help you find similar events in your area:
Check your local park and rec department website or social media pages. Here is the City of Roseville's page!
Look for autism support groups in your area - they often share event info. WarmLine Family Resource Center in Sacramento has support groups, Zoom calls on various topics, and also shares community events. Click here to download their March 2024 calendar.
